چکیده

در مقالۀ حاضر می‌کوشیم نسبت بین نظریۀ مثل افلاطون و اندیشه‌های اخلاقی و سیاسی او را بررسی کنیم. نخست گزارشی اجمالی از سیر تکوین نظریۀ مثل در محاورات «منون»، «فایدون» و «جمهوری» ارائه می‌دهیم. سپس می‌کوشیم از مسیری دیگر اندیشۀ سیاسی و اخلاقی افلاطون را پیگیری کنیم و برای این منظور به رسالۀ «آپولوژی» و محاورات «پروتاگوراس»، «گرگیاس» و باز «جمهوری» نگاهی می‌اندازیم. این بررسی ما را به این نتیجه می‌رساند که «تمثیل غار» افلاطون هم اوج نظریۀ مثل اوست و هم اوج اندیشۀ سیاسی و اخلاقی او. بررسی دقیق «تمثیل غار» و مقایسۀ نکات اصلی مطرح‌شده در آن با مسائل اصلی محاورات «پروتاگوراس» و «گرگیاس» خصلت سیاسی‌ـ‌اخلاقیِ نظریۀ مثل افلاطون را آشکار می‌سازد. سقراط، برخلاف سوفسطایی که خود را دربردارندۀ حقیقت می‌پندارد، صرفاً مغاکِ حقیقت را گشوده نگه می‌دارد و شاگرد را وامی‌دارد رو به‌سوی آن گرداند. در محاورۀ «مهمانی»، آلکیبیادس این نوع تربیت سقراطی را «جنون فلسفه» می‌نامد. در پایان سعی می‌کنیم پاسخی محتمل به انتقادهای پوپر و نیچه از افلاطون بدهیم و نشان دهیم که، برخلاف خوانش تثبیت‌شده و جاافتادۀ متعالی از نظریۀ مثل، امکان خوانشی درون‌ماندگار از آن نظریه نیز وجود دارد.

چکیده [English]

In the present article we try to examine the relationship between Plato's theory of Ideas and his political and ethical thoughts. First, we present an outline of the genesis of theory of Ideas in "Meno", "Phaedo", and "Republic". Then, we go on to examine Plato's political and ethical thoughts in "Apology", "Protagoras", "Gorgias" and again "Republic". The study results in the conclusion that Plato's "cave allegory" is the climax of both his theory of Ideas and his politico-ethical thoughts. A close reading of "cave allegory" and comparing of its main ideas with the crucial problems of "Protagoras" and "Gorgias" reveals the politico-ethical character of theory of Ideas. Contrary to the sophists who think they are the locus of Truth, Socrates only keeps open the abyss of truth and makes the student turn around it. In "The Symposium", Alcibiades calls this "madness of philosophy". At the end, we try to provide a possible answer to Nietzsche's and Popper's reproaches to Plato and show that there may be a possible immanent reading of Plato's theory of Ideas.
