بررسی نظریۀ حیوان‌انگاری دربارۀ این‌همانی شخصی

چکیده
یک نظریه دربارۀ این‌همانی شخصی باید توضیح دهد که چگونه یک شخص علی رغم تغییرات فراونی که در طول زمان بر او حادث می‌شود، خودش است و تبدیل به شخص دیگری نمی‌شود یا از بین نمی‌رود. به عبارت دیگر یک نظریه دربارۀ این‌همانی شخصی باید ملاکی برای این‌همانی شخصی به ما بدهد. یکی از نظریات دربارۀ این‌همانی شخصی، حیوان‌انگاری است که ملاک زیستی را برای این‌همانی شخصی معرفی می‌کند. ادعای اصلی حیوان‌انگاران این است که ما حیوان هستیم. من، تو و هر کس/چیز دیگری که شبیه ما باشد حیوان هستیم، یعنی هر کدام از ما با یک حیوان این‌همان است. بر اساس این ادعا آنها نمی‌پذیرند که ملاک‌های دیگر، مخصوصاً ملاک روان‌شناختی، ملاک درست برای این‌همانی شخصی باشد. به نظر آنها ما اندام‌واره‌های زنده‌ایم و تا زمانی که زندگی ما تداوم یابد ما تداوم داریم و برای دوام داشتن به هیچ چیز غیر از سامانه‌های زیستی نیاز نداریم. به عبارت دیگر، ملاک روان‌شناختی برای دوام در طول زمان نه لازم است و نه کافی. استدلال اصلی آنها استدلال حیوان اندیشنده است که مخالفانِ حیوان‌انگاری آن را رد کرده‌اند. استدلال اجزای اندیشنده از جمله استدلال‌هایی است که برای رد استدلال حیوان اندیشنده پیشنهاد شده است. به هر حال، به نظر می‌رسد که حیوان‌انگاران نتوانسته‌اند برای اثبات ادعای خود استدلال خوبی ارائه کنند و نیز از پاسخ دادن به نقدهای مخالفان ناتوان بوده‌اند.

چکیده English

A theory of personal identity should explain how a person, despite all the changes that happen to her/him over time, remains the same and does not become another person or end. In other words, a theory of personal identity should provide us with a criterion for personal identity. Animalism is a theory of personal identity that offers the biological criterion for personal identity. The main claim of animalists is that we are animals. You, I, and any other who is similar to us is an animal, i.e., identical to an animal. According to this claim, they refuse to accept other criteria, especially the psychological criterion as the right criterion for the personal identity, and offer the biological criterion. As they say, we are living organisms and persist through time as long as our life persists, and we don't need anything other than biological systems to persist. In another word psychological criterion are neither necessary nor sufficient for our persistence through time. Their main argument is thinking animal argument which is rejected by arguments such as the thinking parts argument. Animalists, however, do not seem to have good arguments to defend their view, nor do they have good responses to the critics.
